Ult economy is the management of ultimate abilities across a team, including when to save, build, trade, or combine them to win fights efficiently.

In Overwatch 2, ultimate charge is a limited resource, so teams try to avoid wasting several ultimates on a fight they could win with one or two, while also making sure key ultimates are available for important engagements. Good ult economy helps a team stagger enemy resources, force stronger fights, and keep tempo through an entire round. For example, if a team uses one ultimate to secure a fight while holding the rest for the next push, it usually preserves more power than spending three ultimates at once against a fight that was already won.
